British Publications Online has a new home on UPSO, where it has become British Academy Scholarship Online. The move means that, for the first time, 140 high-quality British Academy publications will be available with the rest of University Press Scholarship Online, ensuring a seamless research journey for students, academics, librarians, and researchers alike.
The British Academy for the Humanities and Social Sciences was established by Royal Charter in 1902, with the goal of inspiring and supporting excellence and high achievement in the humanities and social sciences, throughout the UK and internationally, and to champion their value. The titles they have brought onto UPSO embody these values, and have contributed to fifteen University Press Scholarship Online subject areas:
Anthropology – Archaeology – Classical Studies – Economics and Finance – History – Law – Linguistics – Literature – Music – Philosophy – Political Science – Psychology – Religion – Society and Culture – Sociology
These titles are on a multiplicity of fascinating subjects: from the forests of the Ancient Nasca people, to the psychology of imagination, to the work of Soviet poet Ol'ga Berggol'ts. To celebrate the launch of British Academy Scholarship Online, we've made a selection of chapters free and available from the books below.
This update means that UPSO now has over 15,000 titles, and the number of prestigious partner presses has risen to 17!
